Our client is seeking a Configuration Manager to support a federal government client located in Fort Lee, VA, working on-site in the customer’s office space.   Selected candidate will be responsible for working across multiple business areas to establish and maintain a documented baseline configuration and will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and verifying hardware and software configuration data.  The candidate is expected to be an expert configuration manager with experience in Information Technology (IT), IT Infrastructure Libraries (ITILv3) Framework, software development and process improvement.
Additionally, this position serves as the organizational point of contact for Configuration Management and IT related change management processes. The position will assist and collaborate with IT management level professional staff in regard program objectives, direction and goals. Most importantly, the Configuration Manager will be responsible for working within a dynamic customer oriented environment to deliver outstanding customer service.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement enterprise configuration management program using BMC’s atrium CMDB tool and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Identify configuration management plans and objectives
  • Develop a configuration management implementation roadmap
  • Develop a communication plan for the initiative
  • Design a Configuration Management standard operating procedure (SOP) that documents
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Program structure
  • Data structure
  • Data collection, audit and validation
  • Standardize the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software
  • Ensure the enterprise configuration management is in accordance with agency guidelines
  • Requirements Gathering and refinement
  • Data Model and Business Process Model (BPM) development
  • Consult with agency, private industry, and others to conduct research and provide guidance on configuration management, data, and process models
  • Provides broad expertise on technical concepts of applications and user groups, and structures procedures in a logical sequence
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with others.
  • Ability to prioritize and independently manage time on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Provide weekly and monthly status reports
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or related field or relevant experience
  • At least four (4) years of experience providing Configuration Management expertise to medium to large scale organizations
  • At least four (4) years of experience with Configuration Management Database (CMDB) software and tools
  • Experience with enterprise systems management software such as SCCM
  • Experience developing and modeling processes
  • Excellent client communication skills
  • Experience generating documentation including SOPs, Governance, Policies and reports
  • Preferred / Special Skills / Qualifications:
  • Configuration Management Process Improvement (CMPIC) Certification
  • CMII Certified or Configuration Management Subject Matter Expert (CMSME)
  • ITILv3 Experience and Certification
  • Expert ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a technical writing capacity
